Solfa
Helping pupils to recognise pitch is paramount to the teaching of music. Traditionally, solfa is taught in a series of exercises of gradually increasing difficulty. WELB Music Service Interactive contains a unique Solfa presentation tool that enables you to present Solfa activities with the help of an interactive whiteboard.
Delivering this type of activity traditionally involves a great deal of skill. We are currently using the Solfa interactive whiteboard tool to create fully formed resources that can be used by specialist teachers but also by non-specialist music teachers making the learning of these important musical skills much more accessible.
Access to these resources is normally by annual subscription to the Music Service. However, this year as part of our ongoing program of support for music education in WELB, and thanks to funding from ‘Achieving Derry - Bright Futures’ this invaluable resource is absolutely FREE of charge to schools in the Derry City Council area and for use by all WELB instrumental tutors.
